On Friday, August 21, 2009, at approximately 2:25am, officers assigned to Area D-4 (Back Bay), responded to 33 Stanhope Street (Club '33') for a report of a fight. Officers arrived on-scene and located a male suffering from severe head trauma. Boston EMS responded and transported the victim with life threatening injuries to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment.

Boston Police today announce that the victim, who suffered critical injuries as a result of an assault and battery incident, has succumbed to his injuries and has been pronounced. This victim is identified as Jose Alicea, 22 years of age from Hyde Park.

Officers spoke with individuals on-scene who stated that the individuals possibly responsible for the attack were seen entering a parked limousine. Officers approached the limousine, located and removed the occupants. After the suspects were positively identified, the suspects were placed into custody.

Because of this incident, Club 33 did not have their regular Haitian night last Sunday. They hope to re-open this coming Sunday the 30th.
